The very sweet and newly engaged couple, Meghan and Lester, had plans to travel into Charleston for a friend’s wedding in late April. And let me tell you, their engagement session brought ALL of the good feels from a beautiful spring day!
These two love birds traveled all the way down from Milwaukee! And I am so incredibly happy that the weekend we did their engagement session and when they were in town, that the sun was shining and their wasn’t a dark cloud in sight. This allowed us to get that beautiful glow <3
I was also very pleased to see that the Magnolia Plantation’s infamous white bridge had been fully restored and was up and running! Around, this time last year, a huge tree fell over onto the bridge. Causing significant damage. And so, sadly, the bridge was inoperable for months. It’s such an iconic bridge and a spot you cannot miss when visiting Magnolia Plantation.
Meghan added a GORGEOUS flower crown to her outfit about half way into our session! I was pleasantly surprised when she pulled it out of her bag. PRO TIP: if there is an opportunity to incorporate flowers into your session (whether it is an engagement, bridal, or just fun portraits of you – doooo it and don’t ask questions) Haha, jk. I love questions! But, seriously, bring the pretty flowers. And better yet, hire a local florist to help you. It is absolutely worth it! These are photos you are going to have for the rest of your life. So why not invest a little more to make them absolutely perfect! Am I right?
Oh, yes, and for those of you that know – we also incorporated Magnolia Plantation’s other bridge, too. Their beautiful bright and cheery (and cherry colored) red bridge! This vibrant red paired so well with Meghan’s yellow skirt and black top.
These bright, fun, and bold colors seriously make me so excited and happy! Don’t get me wrong, I also love pastels and neutrals. But it is nice, too, to play with some pops of color! Especially, red. If you want to emphasize yourself in a photo, the best color to wear is red. And I don’t think there’s a color out there more romantic than red. So, long story short, don’t be afraid to wear some color if you like color!
And her skirt had such great movement for photos as well! These two did an incredible job planning and preparing very photogenic and well matched outfit pieces and colors for their shoot. And I think it paid off!
I love how much these two just went along for the ride. They trusted me every step of their session which meant greatly to me. And contributed to their session being fun and relaxed. Engagement sessions, headshots, your special day…really anytime you have to be in front of the camera…it can be nerve wracking. I get it as I have been in front of the camera many times. But, remember, that is why I am there. I am there to help guide you in every aspect. So, all you need to focus on is being relaxed Xo
I wanted to end the session with just a few portraits of this gorgeous girl and her in all of her glory! So, naturally, we headed back to the white bridge for a few last shots.
Thanks so much again guys for choosing me to document such a special time in your life! <3
